My Berkey Spigot is Leaking!

We often get the question, “How do I stop my Berkey spigot from leaking?” It is a great question.

The most common issue is during installation. It can be very difficult to actually get the nut tightened down properly on the spigot. We recommend using one hand to hold the nut on the inside of the unit. With your other hand, rotate the spigot clockwise and it will cause the nut to tighten down more. Once you get the spigot a bit tighter, you can then rotate BOTH the nut and spigot at the same time back to the upright position. That will solve things 99% of the time.

Also, did you know that Berkey just released a NEW stainless steel sight glass spigot? You can check the level of the water in your Berkey at any time with a sight glass spigot (also known as a water view spigot). So, you may consider upgrading to that. We also carry the original sight glass spigot (which has some plastic parts) and also a normal stainless steel spigot to replace the stock spigot. All of them are made by Berkey and all work very well. Need a replacement stock spigot? We have those, too.
